Covered Spandex Yarn is a new type of yarn with spandex filament as the core and wrapped with polyester filament outside. The outer wrapped yarn wraps the core yarn in a spiral fashion. Its characteristics are uniform evenness, bulkiness, smooth yarn with less hairiness, high strength, and few broken ends. It can be classified with two type of covered spandex yarns according to processing way: ACY yarn and SCY yarn.
1, Polyester ACY yarn
Processing: Polyester filaments (covered filament) and spandex filaments (core filament) are drawn through a certain type of nozzle at the same time and then forms a rhythmic network by injecting high-pressure compressed air.
Feature: fabric made of ACY feels soft and smooth;
2, Polyester SCY Yarn
Processing: Polyester filament (covered filament) is continuously rotated and winded onto spandex filament (core filament) which is drawn at a constant speed. It is twisted with certain number of turns(abbreviated as TPM).
Feature: fabric made of SCY is flat and straight.
Applications: Polyester SCY/ACY yarn can be used for knitwear, sportwear, socks, tights, leggings, underwear, sweaters, sneakers, elastic bands, knee pads etc.
