Flower Extract Zeaxanthin is an oxygenated natural carotenoid, which is an isomer with lutein and is widely distributed in nature, most of the zeaxanthin present in nature is the all-trans isomer. Zeaxanthin is found in large amounts in plant tissues such as green vegetables, corn seeds, goji berries and sour berries, and in some non-photosynthetic bacteria. Zeaxanthin cannot be synthesized in the human body and needs to be obtained through the daily diet. Numerous studies have shown that zeaxanthin is closely related to human health because of its antioxidant properties, prevention of macular degeneration, treatment of cataracts, prevention of cardiovascular diseases, enhancement of body immunity, and slowing down of atherosclerosis.
Product Function
The molecular structure of zeaxanthin itself has characteristics that make it a strong antioxidant. There are 11 conjugated double bonds in the molecular structure of zeaxanthin, constituting a large conjugated system, and the presence of these conjugated double bonds enables zeaxanthin to block free radical chain transfer, thus having strong antioxidant activity. In living organisms, although zeaxanthin cannot be converted to vitamin A and does not possess vitamin A activity, it is an important and strong antioxidant available to the human body. Zeaxanthin acts as an antioxidant by reducing the reactivity of chemically active substances such as free radicals singlet oxygen and photochemical sensitizers. Zeaxanthin also has a hydroxyl group at the tail end of its molecular structure, which enhances its antioxidant capacity and protects biological systems from some potentially harmful effects arising from processes or reactions that result from excessive oxidation.
Lutein esters are absorbed by human body and decomposed into free lutein, which has the basic function of crystal lutein to replenish the lost lutein in human body (supplemental consumption should be ≤12 mg/day).

1,Food coloring agent
The 1 oxygen-containing group on the 2 six-membered carbon ring in the zeaxanthin molecule gives it greater stability, so that it is not converted into vitamin A after being absorbed by the intestine, and still maintains its original color and molecular structure, with strong coloring ability.
2,Food preservation agent
The antioxidant activity of zeaxanthin can prevent the oxidation of lipids and vitamins in food, keep the nutrients and flavor of food from being destroyed by oxidation and prolong the freshness period of food, thus zeaxanthin is a very ideal natural food preservative. At present, zeaxanthin is commonly used in solid foods.
2,New beverages
Zeaxanthin is widely found in fruits, vegetables and flowers, and as one of the main components of carotenoids, it has the effect of preventing AMD, cataract and cardiovascular disease.
3,Feed additives
Zeaxanthin is used as a feed additive to effectively improve the nutritional status of animals, egg yolk, poultry meat and skin coloration. In meat birds, zeaxanthin is deposited in the claws, beak and subcutaneous fat to color them and improve the carcass quality of poultry. In egg-laying poultry, zeaxanthin is deposited in the yolk to make it yellow, which improves the quality of eggs and increases their nutritional value.
