L-arabinose is a naturally-occurring aldopentose, which manufactured using a solvent free separation process from plant biomass. L-arabinose has GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe) status through the Flavour and Extract Manufacturers Association (FEMA).
L-arabinose is also approved as a food ingredient in Japan.
Chirally pure L-arabinose CT99 is suitable for pharmaceutical applications. L-arabinose and its derivates are widely used in the development of antiviral agents such as nucleoside analogues.
