O-rings are one of the most common seals used in machine design because they are inexpensive, easy to make, reliable, and have simple mounting requirements. They can seal 10 Mpa of pressure. The O-ring may be used in static applications or in dynamic applications where there is relative motion between the parts and the O-ring. Dynamic examples include rotating pump shafts and hydraulic cylinder pistons.

*Service TemperatureFor NBR the service temperature can be designed from -55 C to 100 C or up to 130 C depending on differenacrylonitrile content and formula.

NBR compounds have excellent resistance to abrasion, non-polar oils and solvent, water and permeation (higher acrylonitrile content will be better). NBR also can be used in conditions of dilute acids, alkalis and salt solution at low temperatures.
