HENGDA-M4133 is a bifunctional organosilane possessing a reactive organic mercapto and a hydrolyzable inorganic methoxysilyl group.

The dual nature of its reactivity allows HENGDA-M4133 to bind chemically to both inorganic materials (e.g. glass, metals, fillers) and organic polymers (e.g. thermosets, thermoplastics, elastomers), thus functioning as an adhesion promoter, crosslinking agent, surface modifier or reactive reagent.

Applications:

1. It is widely used in natural and synthetic rubber, as a reinforcing agent and crosslinking accelerator., suitable for NR, EPDM, SBR, polysulfide rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber, neoprene and polyurethane rubber, etc.

2. It can be used in composite materials (eg. resin glass fiber composites), coatings, ink glues, sealing materials, etc.

3. It is often used to treat inorganic fillers such as glass fiber, SiO2, quartz, talc, and mica, and acts as an activator, coupling agent, crosslinking agent, and reinforcing agent in polymers such as rubber and silicone rubber.

4. The mercapto functional group gives it special effects as an antirust agent on metal surfaces, used to treat the surface of gold, silver, copper, and other metals to improve their corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance, and improve its bonding performance to polymer materials.


Reactivity:

In the presence of water, the methoxy groups of HENGDA-M4133 hydrolyze and form reactive silanol groups which can bond to a variety of inorganic substrates. The organophilic mercapto end of HENGDA-M4133 can react with a suitable polymer. Hydrolysis of HENGDA-M4133 is catalyzed by acids.

Examples of suitable inorganic substrates are glass, glass fibers, silicia, quartz, sand, cristobalite, mica kaolin, talc, other silicate fillers and metals. HENGDA-M4133 may be used with such polymers as polyurethanes, polysulfides, sulfur-cured and metal oxide-cured elastomers.

Product modifications are possible by using HENGDA-M4133 in addition or grafting reactions with suitable monomers or polymers(e.g. isocyanates, PVC etc.). An Si-O-Si crosslinking can take place via the silicon functional groups of the silane.



Packaging, storage and shelf life:

HENGDA-M4133 is supplied in 25 kg or 200 kg drums or 1000kg containers.

The containers must remain tightly sealed during storage and kept in a cool, well aired place. The product should be protected against humidity.

In the unopened container the shelf life of HENGDA-M4133 is min.12 months from delivery.
