Corten Steel Sheet/Plate
 
Corten steel is a type of steel that develops a protective layer of rust when exposed to atmospheric conditions.  It means the life span of corten steel is 10 times longer than mild steel and 3-4 times longer than pre-painted steel.

Compared with stainless steel, weathering steel has only a small amount of alloying elements, such as phosphorus, copper, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, niobium, vanadium, titanium, etc., the total amount of alloying elements is only a few percent, not like stainless steel, reaching more than a dozen percent, so the price is relatively low.

Corten Steel has anti-corrosive properties that gives it an advantage over other steel.  The naturally occurring rust that it develops helps to lengthen the lifecycle of it's structure, which in turn keeps costs to a minimum.

Weathering steel is mainly used for steel structures exposed to the atmosphere for a long time, such as railways, vehicles, bridges, and towers etc..  Also used in the manufacture of structural parts, such as containers, railway vehicles, oil derricks, seaport buildings, oil production platforms, and containers containing hydrogen sulfide corrosive medium in chemical and petroleum equipment.
