What is  Parecoxib Sodium

Parecoxib is the world's first specific cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor that can be administered intravenously and intramuscularly. It was successfully developed by Pharmacia, and its trade name is "Terna". It was approved to be marketed in Europe in early 2002 and entered the Chinese market in 2008. It is a water-soluble precursor of valdecoxib and is a coxib-type analgesic in anti-arthritis drugs. It is mainly used for short-term treatment of postoperative pain in clinic. It can also be used for the treatment of moderate or severe acute postoperative pain.


Function of  Parecoxib Sodium   

1.It is approved through much of Europe for short term perioperative pain control much in the same way ketorolac(Toradol) is used in the United Parecoxib 99%/198470-84-7 States. However, unlike ketorolac, parecoxib has no effect on platelet function and therefore does not promote bleeding during or after surgery.

2.In addition, ketorolac has a much higher gastrointestinal toxicity profile compared to most other nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) including ibuprofen and naprosyn. However, in the United States ketorolac is the only injectable NSAID, although it is banned in many European countries due to concerns about surgical bleeding and stomach ulcers after surgery.
