Aluminum conductor alloy reinforcement (ACAR) consists of 1350 aluminum concentric stranded wires on the core of high strength Aluminum magnesium silicon (AlMgSi) alloy. The number of aluminum 1350 and AlMgSi alloy conductors depends on cable design. Although common designs include the stranded core of AlMgSi stranded wires, in some cable configurations the AlMgSi stranded wires can be layered throughout the aluminum 1350 stranded wires.
Bare Conductor ACAR Cable has better mechanical and electrical properties than the equivalent ACSR, AAC or AAAC. Therefore, the good balance between mechanical and electrical performance makes ACAR the best choice for line design where the main considerations are ampacity, strength and light weight. These conductors are widely used in overhead transmission and distribution lines.

It usually includes the core of the conductor. In some structures, they are distributed in the layer on the whole 1350-h19 aluminum stranded wire.
