Use:

It is mainly used as raw material for polystyrene, synthetic rubber, engineering plastics, ion exchange resin, etc.
It is used to prepare copper plating brightener for leveling and brightening.
The most important use is as a monomer of synthetic rubber and plastic, used to produce styrene butadiene rubber, polystyrene, foam polystyrene; It is also used to copolymerize with other monomers to produce engineering plastics for various purposes. For example,SBS prepared by copolymerization with butadiene is a kind of thermoplastic rubber, which is widely used as modifier of PVC and polypropylene. In addition, a small amount of styrene is also used as intermediates such as spices. Cinnamyl chloride obtained from chloromethylation of styrene is used as an intermediate of qiantongding, a non narcotic analgesic. Styrene is also used as a cough killer and expectorant, and as a technical drug of Weichangning, an anticholinergic drug.
