Pharmacological action:

Tenofovir dipivoxil is an ester prodrug of the nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor tenofovir. It is a 5'-monophosphate nucleotide and has a broad-spectrum antiviral effect, which can inhibit HIV-1 and HIV -2 reverse transcriptase and HBV polymerase, thereby inhibiting virus replication. After oral administration, tenofovir dipivoxil is hydrolyzed into Chemicalbook tenofovir, which is phosphorylated by cellular kinases into the pharmacologically active metabolite tenofovir diphosphate, which competes with 5'-deoxyadenosine triphosphate. Participate in the synthesis of viral DNA. After entering the viral DNA, DNA elongation is blocked due to the lack of 3'-hydroxyl groups, thereby inhibiting virus replication.
