4-hydroxythiobenamide is a novel non-purine highly selective xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor for the treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in gout. It is an effective alternative for patients with allopurino allergy or intolerance to gout, especially for gout patients with renal insufficiency.
