Why do they call it diamond plate?
Diamond plate, also referred to as checker plate or tread plate, is a type of metal typically made from either aluminum or steel. It's called diamond plate due to the raised, diamond-shaped lines that criss-cross at 90-degree angles.
What is Aluminium checker diamond plate used for?
Aluminium Tread (or Chequer) plate is used in decorative, architectural applications and shipbuilding. Being non-corrosive, it does not require painting, making if very low maintenance. This plate can be easily formed, is easy to drill and has generally good weldability.
