isopropyl alcoho ll  An organic compound, the isomer of n-propanoll, also known as dimethyl methanoll, 2-propanoll, and IPA in industry. It is a colorless, clear liquid with an odor like a mixture of ethanol and aceton-e. Soluble in water, also soluble in alcohol, ether, benzene, chloroformm and other most organic solvents. Isopropyl alcohool is an important chemical product and raw material. Mainly used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, plastics, spices, coatings and so on.

Isopropyl alcohool, commonly known as fire wine, is a colorless flammable liquid with a strong odor at room temperature and pressure, molecular formula C3H8O. Isopropyl alcoho ll is the simplest secondary alcohol and is one of the isomers of propanol.

 

It has a smell similar to ethanol and acetonee, slightly bitter and flammable. Miscible with water, ethanol, ether and chloroformm, insoluble in salt solution. Can form azeotropic mixture with water (12.3% water content). Easy to produce peroxide. Low toxicity, median lethal dose (rat, oral) 2524mg/kg. High concentration of steam is narcotic and irritating
