CAPS can be used for nucleic acid extraction, in interfusion with 3-(cyclohexylamino)-2-hydroxy-1-propanesulphonic acid (CAPSO) and 2-(cyclohexylamino)ethanesulphonate (CHES), among others, to prepare solutions for nucleic acid hybridisation. It is also possible to reduce the productivity of non-specific hybrids and increase the specificity of nucleic acid hybridization, which is valuable in the identification of specific pathogens and the diagnosis of genetic disorders.    Furthermore, CAPS can be used in a variety of environmentally friendly, high quality waterborne two-component polyurethane coatings and is widely used in the waterborne coatings market as it is stable with active DNA-containing resins at room temperature for long periods of time.
 
In addition, CAPS can be used to formulate buffers in capillary electrophoresis to end electrolytes, allowing on-line separation of 2-nitrobenzoic acid and 3-nitrobenzoic acid, while CAPS buffers are suitable for use in high molecular weight protein electrophoresis buffers.
