Iso pro pyl alco hol , commonly known as fire wine, is a colorless flammable liquid with a strong odor at room temperature and pressure, molecular formula C3H8O. Iso pro pyl alco hol is the simplest secondary alcohol and is one of the isomers of pro panol. It has a smell similar to ethanol and ace tone, slightly bitter and flammable. Miscible with water, ethanol, ether and chlo ro form, insoluble in salt solution. Can form azeotropic mixture with water (12.3% water content). Easy to produce peroxide. Low toxicity, median lethal dose (rat, oral) 2524mg/kg. High concentration of steam is narcotic and irritating
