Methylene chloride is a colorless, transparent, heavier than water, volatile liquid that has an ether-like odor and sweetness, does not burn, but mixes with a high concentration of oxygen to form an explosive mixture.Methylene chloride is slightly soluble in water, and most commonly used as organic solvents. Methylene chloride can be quickly dissolved in phenol, aldehyde, ketone, glacial acetic acid, triethyl phosphate, formamide, cyclohexylamine, acetoacetate.
