Properties : Resorcinol is white needle-like crystal. It will become pink upon exposure to light and air or contact with iron. It has a sweet taste. It is soluble in water, ethanol, amyl alcohol, easily soluble in ether, glycerol, slightly soluble in chloroform, carbon disulfide as well as in benzene.

Usage : Resorcinol is an important raw material for organic synthesis. It is mainly used as the raw material of rubber adhesives, raw analysis reagents, drugs and preservatives, dyes, synthetic resin.

Application

Resorcinol is mainly used for rubber adhesives, synthetic resins, dyes, preservatives, medicine and analytical reagent, such as primary side, resorcinol and phenol, cresol are similar, and formaldehyde condensation polymer, can be used in making viscose rayon and nylon tyre cord adhesive, preparation of cement, wood glue used for vinyl material and metal, resorcinol is many azo dye, fur dyes intermediates, raw materials and pharmaceutical intermediates for nitrogen base salicylic acid.
Resorcinol has bactericidal effect, can be used as antiseptic, in cosmetics and skin diseases medicine paste and ointment.The derivative of resorcin, betamethyl atropine, is the intermediate of optical bleach, trinitro-resorcin is the detonator of detonator, and a considerable amount of resorcin is used in the production of ultraviolet absorbent of resorcin.This product can irritate the skin and mucous membrane, can be absorbed quickly by the skin and cause poisoning.
