È anche noto come filato parzialmente orientato (POY) che si riferisce ad un filo prodotto sotto forma di struttura molecolare semi-testurizzata grazie alla sua struttura polimerica. Si tratta della prima forma di filato ottenuto direttamente da PTA & MEG o da trucioli di poliestere PET.

Tipicamente, i POY sono combinati con altri filati (cosiddetti ITYS) o convertiti in punti e testurizzati presso aziende di testurizzazione.

Il filato POY è disponibile in diversi lucentezze come POY semi-opaco e POY lucido.

Domanda di filato POY
Il POY è principalmente utilizzato nella testurizzazione per produrre filati testurizzati, noti anche come filati testurizzati stirati in poliestere (DTY). POY può anche essere usato in orditura a disegno per tessitura e tessitura a ordito di tessuti.  

Il POY è largamente utilizzato in shirtales e sutings, sari, materiale di abbigliamento da donna, e maglieria ed è preferito nell'usura da uomo a causa del suo maggiore recupero di pieghe, resistenza alle rughe, migliore drappo, maggiore ritenzione di stampe e colori, e migliore abrasione rispetto ad altre fibre, come PSF, VSF e NFY.
