Shunt Resistor
A resistor having a very low value of resistance type of resistor is called a shunt resistor. The shunt resistor is mainly made of a material having a low TCR (Temperature Coefficient of Resistance). It is connected in parallel with the ammeter whose range is to be extended. It is also connected in series with the load whose current is to be measured. It can be used to measure the current flowing through a circuit, such as applications of Instruments and meters, telecommunication equipment, electric vehicle, charging stations, DC/AC power systems, and so on.
